Communicating Mental Health Awareness(Insights from My Interview with Moses on LetItCount Podcast)

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time when conversations about mental health become more visible and urgent. Mental health affects everyone, yet many still hesitate to talk openly about it.
This silence can deepen feelings of isolation and stigma. Recently, I had the opportunity to discuss this important topic with Moses Bulamu from uganda on his podcast #LetItCount.
Our conversation highlighted why communicating about mental health matters and how it can create real change.

Why Talking About Mental Health Matters
Mental health is often misunderstood or overlooked. People may feel ashamed or afraid to share their struggles. Moses and I discussed that one of the biggest barriers is the fear of judgment. When mental health remains a taboo subject, individuals suffer in silence. This can lead to worsening symptoms and missed opportunities for support.

Use Media and Technology
Podcasts like #LetItCount play a vital role in spreading awareness. Social media, blogs, and videos can reach wide audiences and spark conversations. Moses noted that digital platforms allow people to share anonymously if they prefer, lowering barriers to communication.
